Center Links

Steering that feels loose or uneven from side to side often traces back to wear in the center link. On many classic Chevy Camaros, Chevelles, and El Caminos, the center link develops play at the inner tie rod connections or where it meets the pitman and idler arms. Even slight wear can affect how evenly the front wheels respond when turning.

Replacing the center link restores proper steering geometry and keeps both sides of the linkage moving together. A tight connection helps eliminate wandering and improves tracking at highway speeds. Center links are commonly serviced along with pitman arms and idler arms, since the entire steering linkage must remain solid to maintain predictable front-end control.
