Shocks
Excessive bouncing after bumps, nose dive under braking, or a rear end that feels unsettled on uneven pavement often points to worn shocks. On classic Chevy Camaros, Chevelles, and El Caminos, original dampers lose internal valving control over time, even if they show no visible leaks. As damping fades, the suspension can no longer properly control spring movement, affecting stability and tire contact.
Replacing shocks restores controlled suspension movement and improves ride quality without altering ride height. Proper damping helps reduce body motion, maintain traction, and support predictable handling during acceleration and braking. Shocks are commonly replaced alongside leaf springs or refreshed suspension bushings and hardware, since overall stability depends on controlled movement at every corner.
