Thermostats & Housings

Replace Sticking Components with New Thermostats & Housings
Thermostats & Housings
An engine that takes too long to warm up, runs hotter than expected, or swings between temperatures often points to the thermostat. On classic Chevy Camaros, Chevelles, or El Caminos, thermostats can stick open or closed after years of sitting, and housings can corrode or warp just enough to create sealing problems. These issues don’t always show up immediately, but they tend to surface once the car is driven regularly again.
Replacing the thermostat and housing helps stabilize operating temperature and eliminate leaks at the intake crossover. A properly rated thermostat allows the engine to reach and maintain the temperature it was designed to run at, while a clean housing surface ensures the gasket seals correctly. Many restorations address thermostats during cooling system refreshes alongside components like radiators or when verifying airflow improvements from updated fans and fan shrouds, since temperature control starts at the thermostat.
